Foster a Dog in Need

It Takes A Village is a foster based rescue which means that all of the dogs in our care are in temporary foster homes, being cared for by loving families, until they find their forever family.  The more foster homes we have the more dogs we can help.

Fostering one dog won't change the world, but for that one dog the world will be forever changed...

What Does It Mean To Be A Foster Care Giver?

Being a foster care giver is a commitment to provide love and guidance to a dog in need. As a foster, you will play a significant role in helping the dog to decompress from the trauma of losing their previous life and settle into a new beginning. You will care for the dog as they were your own, taking them for walks, snuggling on the couch, and socializing them with new people and animals. You will help the rescue team to learn more about your foster dog and play an active role in helping us to find their best possible forever family.

Fostering has a lot of benefits but it is a decision that will affect your entire household. We do our best to match dogs with appropriate foster families but even the perfectly matched foster has in impact on your current pets, your children, your house and your yard! A dog could be in your care for a month or six months and it is important to realize that fostering is a considerable, yet very rewarding, commitment.

What You Can Expect From Us...

It Takes A Village provides foster care givers with the resources necessary to care for the dog while its in the care of the rescue. We provide the dog's food, treats, toys, leash, collar, blanket, and crate. We also provide the required vet care to ensure that the dog is healthy and ready for its adoptive family. Our team of volunteers support you and the foster dog throughout the foster period and help you through any challenges you experiences and celebrate all the little victories you will enjoy throughout the process.
